HIPAA
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of HIPAA of 1996, was formulated to adopt standardized security measures that would protect sensitive patient data against unauthorized disclosure during electronic exchange.
- No hard-copy documents will be disposed of without first shredding transcribed documents.
- Computers will also be configured to prevent unauthorized use, and security devices will be employed to prevent theft of computers.
- No client-related documents shall be sent from a computer without a minimum of 128-bit encryption.
- 24 X 7 security personnel manning our office.
- No personnel are allowed to bring in any floppies, any electronic devices including laptops, PDA.
- All computers require passwords to use the computers and to start Windows
- We have firewalls and antivirus software on all the computers and update virus definitions daily.
- We have security services employed to prevent theft and/or vandalism of any information stored on our systems.
- Technical evaluations are performed on a routine basis to make sure all systems meet specified security requirements.
- All persons, administrators and employees, who have access to any sensitive information, patient records, or voice files, etc., have the appropriate clearances and have signed confidentiality agreements
- The entry of employee is controlled by a login key.
- All our staff that is highly trained.
- All our transcriptions process dictations and reports on workstations, connected to the company’s private network
- Recordable media are strictly prohibited within the premises of the facility.
